At least I think it's still in Hartford County
Still Waters Box, carved by RTRW and Planted by Cherieph on October 6, 2002 (Happy Birthday Tim!)
Rt 181 in Riverton Ct
Directions:
Take Rt 44 west to Rt 181. Head north, following the signs to the American Legion Forest. At the 4-way stop go straight; don't follow Rt181. Pass thru the Am Legion Forest and go beyond the 2 trail signs for the Henry Buck Trail (where there are other boxes). The Riverton Game Fields will be on your right.
Clues:
Get to the far side of the southern most field however you can. If no one is there, go across the field. If there are teams then you'll have to go around. The goal is to get to the bend in the fence on the river (east) side of the field. With your back to the post where it bends count about 35 steps in to the woods at 70 degrees. You are looking for a twin trunked tree and its near neighbor, a larger tree with a kink in the trunk. From there you can find (and see) the Still Waters.
This is the last soccer field I need to visit this season. And I'm caught up on boxes, too.
If you have any problems with the box, please contact cherieph@aol.com
